Hi! My name is Sybrich van Terwisga. I have always been very enterprising since I was a child. For almost 30 years I have been able to operate the catering industry in various facets. I have had my own pubs on Vlieland and Terschelling. In between I bought a 34-meter old ship hull that was the last sailing cargo ship in the Netherlands at the time. I completely restored it with help and, based on my catering experience, put it on the market as a day trip ship for 75 people. A huge challenge because at the beginning I knew nothing about building ships and could not sail the ship either. I went for it and did not shy away from anything when it came to learning how to convert a steel hull. An incredibly fascinating time and I learned a lot. I also had all kinds of fun jobs around that because I wanted to learn a lot and also really enjoy doing a lot.

During the corona period I still had my pub on Terschelling and it was a huge challenge for me to keep the pub going. During the long lockdowns I started driving on the beach. That was already one of my hobbies before that. I came across a car that met all my requirements and just started driving excursions with it. This turned out to be a bull's eye: I thought it was great to take guests on our adventure in a personal way. I was able to express my creativity in capturing nature photos with which I reached a lot of people so that I could take these people on new trips. I was able to turn my hobby into my job and I still enjoy it every day.

In May 2023 I was able to buy my dream house and realize this B&B in it. So I started with just the idea of ​​renovating the bathroom upstairs so that I could start renting out the rooms almost immediately in 2023. Due to some setbacks with a builder who could not properly implement my plans, Dirk unexpectedly came my way, who initially only came to support the other builder. Eventually, after a week, we demolished the whole thing together and started building everything ourselves. And from there, the house was completely insulated, all pipes and underfloor heating with new floors were replaced, everything was plastered, and painted and wallpapered. So from old to a new-build house. I am extremely grateful to Dirk for being able to realize this together with and for me. Thanks to both of our perseverance and hard work, we were able to create a beautiful accommodation in a year. So for me the new adventure started in 2024 to receive guests and to be able to take up my old profession as a masseuse again so that there is more peace in my life and I can also convey that relaxation and peace to the guests.
